OUR STORY
Six miles inside the wild and scenic Siskiyou National Forest, JG SWITZER’s founding artist Jessica Switzer Green grew up on a farm that hugged the mountains and followed a river. The relationship of humans, animals and plants intertwined daily, and this partnership with living things is the spring from which all creative efforts flow.
OUR EVOLUTION
My husband Eddie and I had just moved to rural northern California and I was looking for a way to connect with the land. We added a flock of Wensleydale and Romney sheep to our family, and in the spring they exploded with this beautiful fleece. My “aha” moment was the marvelous beauty of the raw locks.
Then began a search for how to use this beautiful gift from the sheep. With help from Fibershed, I found a 7.5 ton industrial needle punch felting machine - and named her "Luna". I had a bag of recently sheared, dark, curly Wensleydale wool from my ewe VictoriaI. I threw it down to felt in the machine and it was love at first felting sight. My machine and I began our journey together of “painting with wool".

THE FUTURE IS MADE BY HAND.
Women owned and operated, all JG SWITZER products are designed, crafted, or finished at our workshop located in wild West Sonoma County in Northern California. Nestled in a village of artisan makers called The Barlow in Sebastopol, just 45 minutes north of San Francisco. Our little wool workshop is a retail store, a small showroom, one of our places of making and production, and a creative space where all are welcome.
NATURE MAKES IT BEST
Natural fibers are the finest fibers in the world. Made by nature, they return easily to nature, but not until after many, many years of enjoyment. All JG SWITZER pieces are made of natural fibers, and they always will be. We are devoted to the finest: wool, silk, linen, cashmere, organic cotton, mohair and alpaca.
